Shea and Sarah + Baby | Orange County Maternity Photographer

I LOVE the story of how Shea and Sarah met...He was her tennis teacher in college and she actually almost dropped the class! The night of their final, Shea and Sarah went on their first real date in a lounge in hollywood ~ the rest is history. These two were obviously destined to be together. They are the sweetest couple. It was so much fun to capture their anticipation as they prepare for the arrival of their first precious baby boy.
Not only are they a drop dead gorgeous couple, they are such solid, cool peeps. We had a blast during their session.
I went to the same high school as Shea and when he announced on Facebook that they were expecting, I secretly hoped they would contact me for some belly goodness. I am so stoked they did and wish them a life full of blessings as they become a sweet little family of three.

The session was at Balboa Island so the bebe definitely needed his first Balboa bar =)

Allisun was my favorite college professor at CSUN (California State University Northridge). She is an amazing interpreting teacher who puts her heart and soul into every lesson, every student. I feel so very fortunate to have studied under her. Even more fortunate that she has become one of my best friends. I feel so flattered to be the one to document these special moments between Allisun, Drew and Indigo. Drew and Allisun are absolutely made for each other. This was the first time I had met Drew. The chemistry between the two of them was undeniable and their love for Indigo completes the package. I am beyond thrilled for them and cannot wait to see what the future has in store.

Where to begin… LOVE this girl! Maria and I go way way back. She trained me at a restaurant in the valley (Stanley's) and we have been tight ever since. It is not very often I meet someone who is actually louder than me haha. Needless to say, I was THRILLED when Maria asked me to take some new headshots for her as well as some photos for her personal training/fitness business. I am so stoked for her, HUGE things are happening and she deserves it more than anyone. She is absolutely gorgeous and the coolest, most down to earth real chick you will ever meet. Arianne and Kevin | Orange County Wedding Photographer

Arianne and Kevin had an absolutely magical wedding day at Concannon Vineyard. Their love is so strong it brought me to tears numerous times. I feel beyond flattered they chose me to document their day. Seriously, I felt like one of the family, what an honor! Their family and friends welcomed me with open arms and we just had an awesome time. Since Arianne and Kevin are Deaf, the ceremony was conducted in ASL (American Sign Language). It was breathtakingly BEAUTIFUL. I love that I am fluent in ASL and can catch the signs as I am shooting, as is my assistant at the wedding Shannon Flores. HUGE shout out to Shanni, she did an amazing job.

Arriane and Kevin, I wish you a lifetime full of love and passion. I will never forget this day, it was truly one of the most moving weddings I have ever been a part of. xo

My baby is FOUR! Happy Birthday Taj!

Darrick and I decided to switch things up a bit this year. We asked Taj which he would rather, a birthday party or for mommy and daddy to take him to Disneyland. He chose Disneyland. My mom came to watch Lani so Darrick and I could take taj for some big boy time. We had such a blast and both realized that it was the first time Taj had both of us all to himself in a year and a half! It truly was magical. I will never forget this birthday, Taj was a complete angel and we had him all to ourselves. I really can't believe he is already FOUR! Bittersweet my baby, growing up.

Then on Taj's actual birthday we took the kids up to Mt. Baldy to play in the snow. They LOVED sledding and Taj tested out his new snowboard and was a total natural

New Orleans

I feel so incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity to go to New Orleans and attend Mike Colón's Seven Workshop. Being the mother of two young babes, I don't get out often, mostly to work or an occasional date night or girls night. This was completely different. It was me, flying solo to another state to learn from someone who is seriously one of the best in the business. Having the support from my family to embark on this adventure was absolutely priceless. I was completely nervous and stoked and ready to soak up all I could from this experience. Mike was such a solid and real dude. Exceeded any expectation I had, and my expectations were super high! He was beyond generous and candid with his knowledge. The other photographers in the workshop were extremely talented and down to earth as well. All in all it was an amazing day, to say the least. I wish I could relive it over and over. My only complaint is I wish it lasted longer. I felt so close to everyone that by the end of the day I didn't want to leave.

My first night in New Orleans I roamed Bourbon Street. Just me and my camera. I stopped at a few bars, listened to some music. I felt like I was in another world. The people in NOLA were so full of something! I can't even find a word to describe it. Everyone had such unique personalities. Here are a few photos from my first night

After a fantastic day and delicious dinner, we went to Cafe Du Monde for some beignets and coffee.

I've been dreaming of these since.. must. go. back.

My trip definitely ended on a sweet note. I left thinking of the future, long term, where I want to be. The sky is the limit and I am soo glad I decided to make this trip happen.

Took my sweet babes, Taj and Lani to the park in their costumes to play and of course to get a few Halloween photos. It was definitely challenging to say the least! They are at the "run away from mom when she has the camera" stage. Every time Lani would spot me with my camera she would run the other direction, giggling. It was fun regardless. These kids are my entire world and they both have hearts of gold. I am holding onto these years and feel them slipping through my fingertips.

If I said it was a pleasure to shoot Don and Holly it would be a ridiculous understatement. It was such an amazing experience to do their engagement photos. Not only are they head over heels in love, but they are clearly soul mates (if you believe in that stuff, I do). It was an emotional shoot, for me atleast. I am such a sap! I cannot tell you how many times I got the chills while clicking away. When I capture raw emotion, it really moves me. I just feel so incredibly lucky that they chose ME to capture these precious moments. Don deployed to Iraq a few days after their session, that made the photos even more special. True love is very hard to find, but I truly believe Don and Holly have found it and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for these two ♡

One of my best friends from my home town of Bakersfield came down to Huntington Beach for the weekend. We had such an amazing time, our kids played like family and it just always feels like "home" with Crystal around. Seriously, if I could I would have put them on lock down and kept them here forever. I had the pleasure of having a little mini session with them. Captured pure love, straight up. I got chills and teary a few times during the shoot. I absolutely LOVE this family to pieces.

This last month and 1/2 has been anything but easy. I was laid off of my interpreting job on July 19th. Been through a million emotions, from terrified to ecstatic and hopeful. I am diving into my photography career face first and doing everything I can to make this change a successful one.

A night away with my soul sister

I feel like the luckiest girl around. It has been years (over 4 years specifically) since I have stayed a night away from my kids and hubb. I NEEDED it badly. Cannot even express how badly I was in need of a break. My best friend/ soul sister, Amanda had the brilliant idea of us staying in Ventura for a night, HER TREAT. Soo generous of her and I am beyond grateful. I got the go ahead from hub and met up in Ventura for a fun mini Vacay!

We ate delish food, drank lots of wine and caught up like old times, without being interrupted to change a diaper or reprimand my 3 yr old. I felt completely free and utterly blessed to share this time with Amanda. I hope we can do it again soon. Love you girl, you are my sister for life! oxox

Me and Brittney go wayyyy, back... So far back that she knows major dirt on me HAHA. We are OLD SCHOOOL friends and I know we will be old granny friends one day too. I was thrilled, to say the least, when Britt asked me to do family photos for them. They booked a Hotel in Laguna (which happened to be the same hotel Darrick and I stayed on our wedding night). We had such a blast. This was the first time I met Tristin and I am absolutely in love. Such a sweet, loving babe. The moment I met her she put her forehead touching mine, it was the sweetest thing ever, I got teary. I just loved seeing this family in action, so much fun, such great energy, so much love.Britt and Chris are such natural, amazing parents. Miss Tristin is one lucky sweety! Lots of big news this month! The first bit of news wasn't taken to well by me. I came home from work last week to find my husband is an aspiring barber. He cut/shaved off all of my babe's precious curls! Taj has a full on mohawk now. After the initial shock wore off I began to like his lil hawk. It shows off taj's sweet face and sooo much easier to comb through. It aged him a bit though, he looks like a teen to me now, but he will always be my sweet lil babe ♡

My second bit of BIG news is Miss Lani May is walking! We are absolutely thrilled! She started taking 5-10 steps on her own last week and now she is standing up and taking off! This babe is so utterly feminine, even in the photos you can clearly see her dainty little walk. Melts my heart ♡

Lil More Lani...

Took Lani to The Lab to try and capture a few more 1 year pics. My mother in Law LR came with me and we just had a fun time running around after Lani, snapping a few here and there. The second I put her down she is GONEEE. So fast! Definitely didn't want to sit around for any silly pics!

Lani May Turns 1!

I have been told, the first year goes by in the blink of an eye. Didn't find that to be true with Lani. Lani has been through so much with her health, it really has felt like a year, a long one. We are so thankful Lani is doing fabulous! She is 100% healthy, happy and seriously the sweetest babe I have ever met. I am not exaggerating when I say this girl is pure sweetness. Lani is 17 lbs 12 oz and now in the 10th percentile! Petite little thing and absolutely feminine. Her first word was mama, quickly followed by dada. She signs milk, mama, dada, more and all done. Signing is the first language used in our house, no doubt she will be fluent in ASL just like her big bro.

Date Night

One of my bestest friends in the whole world came to visit us this weekend with her two amazing children. We had sooooo much fun! Stayed up LATE drinking Amstel Light and reminiscing about the good ol days in high school. (oy vey I must be getting oldddd) This visit made me miss them even more but also reminded be that San Diego is only a hop skip and a jump from Huntington Beach. LOVE you Jenny! Thank you for always being there through think and thin for over a decade (even through my ditziest moments!)! It has been a busy few months. Taj turned 3. He got a big boy hair cut. It's kind of a mohawk/mullet hybrid and it sooo fits him! Lani has been going through some health issues but is finally on the up n up! It is definitely a relief for all of us. Here are a few of my favorite pics from this month..

I had the pleasure of shooting some of my dearest friends. River D is by far one of the happiest babies I have ever met! Not to mention adorable and brilliant. We had such a blast and got so many keeper pics despite working with little sunlight.. Hope you enjoy! These are just a few of my favs = )

The holidays are definitely a time to be thankful. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by my sweet family and friends. It was so magical watching the excitement as Taj opened his gifts. He got his first bike (with training wheels), and is already riding it like a pro. Lani is a little young to really understand Christmas, but she sure did LURVE playing with the bows and wrapping paper. Here are just a few Christmas photos of Taj and Lani.

Carrie is a long time friend of mine from Bakersfield. She is the person who introduced me to my first Deaf friend, over 10 years ago. Who knew at the time that the Deaf world would become such a huge part of my life, well it actually IS my life. I cannot thank her enough. When Carrie asked me to do her engagement pics I was completely flattered. We had so much fun! Carrie and Kevin were so much fun to work with and such a beautiful and loving couple. Brooke is a friend of mine all the way back from Elementary School (in Bakersfield). We had so much fun back in the day. Recently Brooke and I reunited through the magical world of facebook! To my surprise, Brooke and her sweet fam live in Long Beach, literally minutes from us! We picked up where we left off after high school and I honestly feel so blessed to have reconnected with Brooke and her amazing family

Let me just keep it real. Darrick wasn't thrilled at the thought of having a daughter. He kind of had his mind set on two boys. He had invisioned two brothers roaming the streets of Huntington Beach, just like him and his bro. Christmas time last year, I was 5 months pregnant and Dar hadn't shown me that he had warmed up to the idea of a little girl. I knew deep down she would have him wrapped around her little pinky, just like taj does. When we were all done opening present on Christmas eve, Dar shyly hands me a big box that he had hidden. I opened it slowly, curious what he had pulled up his sleeve now.... It was full of stuff for our baby girl. Jean skirts, pink onesies with "princess" written on them, sparkly things galore! I burst into tears at the thought of him picking out these adorable little outfits for his little girl. My favorite out of all the fun pink stuff were these sweet little pink shoes. I held them in my hands and sqweeled with delight

So I am officially a blogger! So much too learn, not really sure where to begin. I decided to start blogging to share two of my favorite things in the world, family and photography. I am a full time mommy and wifey, part time sign language interpreter and photographer. My two babes have completely rocked my world.

Taj, (who will be 3 in Jan) is a sweet lil spit fire. Such a lover and full of firey passion, like his mama times a million! He is a natural born skateboarder, was riding since before he could walk.

Lani May is our sweet princess. She is so gentle and feminine, ALL girl. Even her sweet little giggle is girly. 5 months old and I'll tell ya, this babe is as sweet as suga, I could eat her up with a spoon.

LOVE me some Lani toes! They are too cute to resist a nibble!

Last, but definitely not least, my hubb, Darrick. He is a kick ass father and one of the most talented men I know. Traveled the world surfing, skating and snowboarding. I am by far his biggest fan.... well, Taj is a pretty big fan of his daddy too

Here he is, people don't call him "airboy" for nothing!
